The statues of the Archangels
In the two niches in the arch over the north portal we find the statues of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel: the former the defender of the Church, the latter the Archangel of the Annunciation.
The statues of the Prophets
In the niche of the north-east arch, on the left of the portal, are the figures of two bearded and cloaked prophets: King David with his royal crown and an elderly man wearing a headdress, Habakkuk. Their names are shown on the scrolls they hold: the particle “et” (and) in front of Habakkuk’s name links the two figures “in a conversation”, as also indicated by their slightly open mouths.
The statues of the Kings
In the niches of the north-west arch we find King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, as she listens to the king’s wise words.
